Ginan - Chet chet bana
In this ginan Pir Sadardin advises us to be Alert and careful in life. I will write the first paragraph of this ginan and explain the message of the Pir.
Jirebhai re chet chet bana mun chanchal kari cheto,
Ane jab lug ghat maahe saas ji,
Bhav huva pun bhagti na hui,
Jivdo uthi ne chalyo udas ji ……..
Pir na bodh ginan vichari, jene bhed na paya,
Ene ghafale janam haraya ji,
Tene papiye fokat fera khaya ji.
The word Jirebhai is made up of 2 words. Ji is the word used in India to show respect to a person. It is used in many contexts like Sheth ji, or Bhai ji etc. Sheth means Boss and Bhai means brother. By adding ji to these words a person shows respect to them both.
So Pir Sadardin respectfully starts the ginan by using the word Jirebhai. He is addressing the jamat individually as brother with respect.
Having said this lets understand the message in this ginan. Chet means beware and bana means friend in this context. Bana also means Boss. Mun means mind and chanchal means alert.
Here Pir Sadardin addresses us as a friend and tells us to be careful and be with alert mind, as long as there is breadth in your body. You had good intentions, but could not put them into practice all your life and at the end of your life your soul left your body sad and frustrated.
Then the Pir says that after listening his advices and still did not understand his message, that ignorant person wasted his life and his incarnation as human.
Then the Pir says further in the ginan that this world is like a big market place and everybody has been given opportunity to do SPIRITUAL BUSINESS here. Go on and do the business for which you are here if you can or you will keep on taking body after body and keep on coming in this world. The ultimate goal of any human should be to GET SALVATION so you do not have to go through this kind of torturous life. Salvation frees you from these tortures of physical life.
Then the Pir say that physical creation gets to a point of tiredness. He then gives examples of seeing things, living physical life, your beautiful body, the earth and surrounding all get tired. Maya or the attraction to the leisure and comforts of the world is only tireless. This Maya keeps you attracted to this world and your life passes blinding your consciousness. This is why you have to be alert and keep you life balanced both materially and spiritually.
Then the Pir carries on by saying that whatever words of advice we offer you are true and believe them with your heart. If you play your hand carefully you will never lose.
In the second paragraph of this ginan there is a mention of this world is like a market place. There are other ginans that have the same message like “Duur desh thi ayo vanajaro” and “Sheth kahe tame sambhado vanotar.”
So our Pirs and Imams have always stressed on keeping the life balanced both PHYSICALLY AND SPIRITUALLY. HOPE YOU WILL DO SO. DO NOT LET YOUR SOUL LEAVE THIS WORLD SAD AND WITH FRUSTRATION.
